            (GỞI TỔNG THỐNG OBAMA)





Thưa ngài Tổng Thống,

Sau 8 năm cai trị của đảng Cộng Hòa (1)

(George W. Bush – Dick Cheny)

chiến tranh, chết chóc lan tràn

lòng dân ta thán

tôi vận động (2)

bầu cho ngài năm 2008

mong tìm một sự đổi thay



Ngày lễ đăng quang

hàng triệu người Mỹ vui mừng

tôi cũng mặt mày hớn hở

đã góp bàn tay

làm nên lịch sử

lần đầu tiên

đưa một người da đen

vào làm chủ Tòa Bạch Ốc



Thế mà chỉ 2 năm vào cuộc

uy tín của ngài

đã “xuống” khá nhiều

lòng tin của tôi

cũng sút giảm theo

ngài đọc diễn văn rất hay

nhưng làm thì hơi … nhát



Năm 2012

tôi ngấp nghé

nhìn qua hướng khác

nhưng đảng Cộng Hòa

chỉ có … Mitt Romey

anh nhà giàu ngạo mạn

đã cho “47 phần trăm” (3) dân Mỹ

là đồ ăn bám



Thế là lá phiếu của tôi

lần thứ hai

trao cho ngài

thêm một nhiệm kỳ Tổng Thống



Dẫu đã đôi lần làm tôi thất vọng

nhưng ngài vẫn là Tổng Thống của tôi

của nước Mỹ

đất nước

tôi đã đem lòng yêu quý

sau hơn 20 năm

được đùm bọc, cưu mang

và tôi đã vắt ruột, gạn lòng

viết gởi ngài bài thơ.

Tôi rất thông cảm

những người chồng, người vợ

có máu ghen

chăm sóc, để ý … kỹ

người bạn đời của mình

bởi tình yêu

hạnh phúc

không sẵn như vỏ lon bia

nằm lăn lóc

chờ đợi bên đường

có thật dạ yêu thương

mới ghen tương

gắng bảo vệ

báu vật mình đang nắm giữ



Nhưng tôi “hơi sợ”

cái kiểu ghen …quá lố

lúc “người ta”

đang nói chuyện trên phone

cũng giằng lấy nghe

xem ai gọi tới

lúc gõ thư trên máy

cũng lén đứng sau lưng

soi mói rình mò



Cuộc sống

nếu chẳng còn những giây phút riêng tư

tình yêu

chỉ là ngọn đèn cầy … hết sáp

hạnh phúc

cũng sẽ … vỗ cánh bay đi mất





Mới đây

báo chí trên trang nhất

truyền thanh, truyền hình

giờ cao điểm

xôn xao

Quốc Hội, Tòa Bạch Ốc ồn ào

tranh cãi

người dân la làng

“Quyền tự do cá nhân bị bức hại”



Tất cả chỉ vì

anh nhân viên cục an ninh

đời đang lên hương

có job thơm, nhà đẹp

bỗng nổi hứng

xì hết cho báo chí

những thông tin mật, giá trị

rồi bay qua Hồng Kông

xin sống kiếp lưu vong



Edward Snowden (4) đúng hay sai?

anh hùng hay tội phạm?

công luận

kẻ tuyên dương

người lên án

tôi không dám lạm bàn



Nhưng nếu quả thật

để có thêm một chút

cảm giác an toàn

(với khủng bố làm gì có an toàn tuyệt đối!)

ngài Tổng Thống

đã phải cho người theo dõi

rình nghe

những cuộc điện thoại riêng tư

đọc lén điện thư

trên internet

lối sống Mỹ

sẽ không còn là mơ ước

của hàng triệu người khao khát tự do

khắp năm châu bốn bể



Dù nhân danh cái gì đi nữa

tôi cũng không tán thành khủng bố

-những người dân vô tội chết oan

người còn sống kinh hoàng-



Trong ngũ thường (5) của Khổng Tử

đứng đầu là chữ Nhân

nhưng nếu nơi nào không có án tử hình

khi xử khủng bố

tôi đề nghị

nên … sửa luật



Tôi ủng hộ việc chi thêm tiền bạc

tuyển dụng nhân viên

mua thêm máy móc

dù khủng bố

có chui vào hang hóc

cũng lôi chúng ra

đem ra trước tòa

xét xử



Nhưng xin đừng cài tai mắt

vào tận nhà riêng

phòng ngủ

của người dân

làm thế

người Mỹ

sẽ bứt rứt trong lòng

nỗi lo sợ khủng bố vẫn còn

lại thêm nỗi khó chịu

bị rình mò nghe lén

và nỗi … buồn

thấy mặt Nữ Thần Tự Do

ngượng ngùng, hổ thẹn (6)



Nhất định tôi sẽ đến thăm New York

đứng thật xa trên bờ

ngắm tượng Nữ Thần Tự Do

tìm cái cảm giác hồi hộp vui mừng

mà hàng triệu người từng trải nghiệm

khi tàu từ từ vào bến



Lúc ấy

tôi sẽ ghé sát tai vợ thầm thì

2)     Đại diện cho ứng cử viên Obama tại thành phố San Leon dự Đại Hội Sơ Bộ Đảng Dân Chủ tại Galveston, TX, tranh quyền đại diện cho đảng Dân Chủ (ra ứng cử Tổng Thống) với ứng cử viên Hillary Clinton.

3)     Trong một cuộc họp với các ủng hộ viên giàu có (50,000 đô la cho bữa ăn tối) Mitt Romey đã phát biểu như trên.

6)     Quốc hội và chính phủ Mỹ sau này đã đạt được thỏa thuận theo đó vẫn cho phép cơ quan NSA dùng kỹ thuật đặc biệt của mình theo dõi khủng bố nhưng đồng thời cũng tăng cường những biện pháp bảo vệ tự do cá nhân của người dân

cũng là ngày tượng Nữ Thần Tự Do mở cửa lại cho du khách vào thăm sau cơn bão Sandy.

That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what”.

-         On June 6, the Guardian newspaper revealed that the NSA was collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers in the US, mandated by a secret court order.

-         The next day we learned about a previously undisclosed program called Prism, which allows the NSA to gain direct access to the private communications of those who use large internet services including Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft. But all of those companies have denied allowing such direct access.

-         On June 8, the Guardian revealed that the NSA had developed a tool known as 'boundless informant', which allows the agency to organize the data it collects from around the world, including the US.

-         On June 17, it revealed that the UK's Government Communications Headquarters, which shares information with the NSA, intercepted foreign politicians' communications during the 2009 G-20 summit.

-         On June 20, top secret documents showed that US judges signed off on broad court orders that allow the NSA to use information inadvertently collected from domestic US communications, without a warrant.

To President Obama: A few words of confidence



Dear Mr. President,

After 8 years of the Republican Presidency

(George W. Bush – Dick Cheney)

war, death everywhere

people’s complaint

I lobbied to have you elected

with the hope for a change

the day of your coronation (inauguration)

millions of Americans felt excited

I myself rejoiced

for having contributed to the effort

to make history

for the first time

a black man

became the master of the White House



Only two years later

your prestige

went “down” a lot

your speeches were good

but your actions were … lame



In 2012

I looked on the other side

but the Republican party

has only …  Mitt Romney

the arrogant rich man

put “47%” of the Americans as parasitic

so my vote

for the second time

went to you

one more Presidential term



Though some few times you deceived me

but you were still my President

of the United States of America

the land I came to cherish

after twenty plus years

being protected, supported

and I put all my heart

in writing to you this poem



THIS (STILL) IS THE LAND OF LIBERTY



I sympathize with the husbands, the wives

with some jealousy

care, taking notice… a little too much of their spouse

because love, happiness

are not like beer cans lying

on the side of the road

you should really love

to show your jealousy

and try to protect

the treasure you are holding



But I am “a little afraid”

of the jealousy … somewhat out of hand

when “one” was talking on the phone

the other grabbed, wanting to know who called

when one was typing on the keyboard

standing right behind

scrutinizing

life

has no privacy

love

is only the flame on the candle without wax

happiness will fly away



Recently, on the front page of the press

radios, televisions,

the peak

anxious

congress, The White House noisily

with controversy

with people screaming

“Our right to personal privacy was persecuted”

all because

the security officer

with his life in good taste

with a good job, a beautiful house

suddenly showed to the press

the confidential and secret information

then flew to Hong Kong

to ask for a life in exile



Edward Snowden, right or wrong?

hero or criminal?

Public

One praised, one condemned

I dare not discuss

but if there is

a sense of security

(with terrorism there is no absolute security)

The president had chosen someone to monitor

And listened to the private phone conversations

Read the emails

On the internet



The American way of life

will no longer the dream

of millions who look for freedom

of all over the world



Though in the name of whatever

I don’t approve of terrorism

“the innocent die unfairly

the survivors frightened”

in the five cardinal virtues of Confucius

starting with the word Humanity

but wherever there is no death penalty

I suggest

to change … the law



I am in favor of spending more money

to recruit more people

to buy more machinery

so even the terrorists go into the dark places

we can take them out

and judge them

but please do not put your eyes and ears into private homes,

bedrooms of citizens

like that

the Americans

will feel bad

the fear of terrorism remains

added to the irritation

of being eavesdropping

and the … sadness

of the Liberty

being embarrassed, ashamed



For sure I will visit New York

standing far away on the shore

looking at the Statue of the Liberty

to find that thrilling joy

millions had experienced

when the boat slowly came into the dock

at that moment

I will whisper to my wife:

“This still is the Land of Liberty”.
